This 70 page concertina booklet
is the result of a one month long artist residency in Sheffield in July 2016.
It's a collage of the town,
literally built up of layers of scrap paper found on the streets of the city onto which location and figure drawings of some of Sheffield's best known areas have been added.
The residency culminated in an exhibition of the sketchbooks at Bank Street Arts.
The opening night was a great success and people eagerly took part in contributing to the communal collage of Sheffield we set up...
...which filled up very nicely during the evening.
I relocated to Sheffield only a few weeks later and continue to be inspired by all the city has to offer. One year later I finally managed to find a way to reproduce the original sketchbooks and have just self-published these little concertina booklets.
'A portrait of Sheffield' is the perfect keepsake to bring back from a visit to the city and a vibrant collection of creative visuals for everyone who appreciates urban sketching.
